The Boston Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-5 in Game 4 of the ALDS with a walk-off sac fly from Kike Hernandez. In Game 1, Tampa Bay show why they won the AL East by completely handling Boston with a 5-0 performance. However, Boston would strike back in Game 2 putting up 14 runs on 20 hits. Game 3 would be a close scoring with Arozarena hitting a double to tie up in the 8th at 4-4. In the 13th inning Christian Vazquez would hit a walk-off two run homerun to put the Red Sox up 2-1 in the series. Game 4 would be another tightly close match as Hernandez would hit a sac fly to walk it off advance to Red Sox to the ALCS.
Tampa Bay is known for bullpen which was strength in the regular season but was their downfall in the ALDS as they would give up 2 walk-off and blew the lead early in Game 2. In the regular season their team bullpen was 3.29 but in the four game series it was 6.51.
Boston quickly fixed their batting issue after getting shutout in Game 1 and were clutch against one of the best pitching staff in the MLB. They will play the winner of the Houston vs Chicago series in the ALCS. They will need the pitching staff to continue their strong performance as the pitching staff is considered to be the worst in the playoffs.
