4th Inning Outburst Wins Game 2 for Royals

Colby Mckee

Just because the 4th was the only inning that Royals score doesn't mean that they were quiet the rest of the game. They did start slow with Yankees' pitcher Carlos Rodon striking out the side in the the first inning. They did collect their first hit the 2nd however the 3rd is when they started to the pressure Rodon. They had men on first and second base with two outs when Pasquatino rope a fastball right to Soto the end the 3rd. The 4th wouldn't be so kind to Rodon. Longest tenure Royal and last member of the 2015 world series team; Salvador Perez would hit a solo home run to lead off the inning. Next, Gurriel hit a bloop single. Rodon then throw a wild pitch which allow Gurriel to advance. After a strikeout to Massey, Pham would hit a gap single to drive Gurriel in the take a 2-1 lead. Pham would steal second and Renfroe struck out for the second out of the inning. Hampson single through the 5-6 hole driving in Pham. This would lead to Rodon being pulled. Garcia then single and drove in Hampson, but being tag between first and second to end the inning. The 5th inning was much with the side being struck out. In the 6th, Gurriel reach on a throwing error reach 3rd base and Massey walk. Pinch-hitter MJ Melendez with runner on the corner hit a line drive to 1st baseman Berti who caught the ball and tag first ending a promising inning. Garcia lead off the 7th with a infield single, and then swipe second. He would however be left stranded.

For the Royals, there is a lot to be encourage about how their offense has perform thru the first two game of the series. If the pitching can replicate it how it did game 2 for the rest of the series; they should be able the end it in Kansas City.
